Black Art Gala: Artist Village Call for Artists

The Black Art Gala Foundation and the Green Book of Tampa Bay invite Black artists to participate in the Black Art Gala Artist Village, part of the 5th Annual Black Art Gala.

The Artist Village will bring together artists and art lovers as part of an evening centered on the incredible breadth of Black artistic expression in Tampa Bay and beyond. Selected artists will have the opportunity to showcase and sell their work directly to Gala attendees while connecting with collectors, creatives, community members, and supporters of the arts.

We welcome artists working across a variety of visual art mediums and encourage artists with unique perspectives, styles, and creative practices to apply.

Event Details

Date: Sunday, February 28, 2027

Time: 6-10P (artists must set up their art between 10A-12P and be present from 5:30-11:15P)

Location: Straz Center for the Performing Arts, Tampa, FL

Artist Village Details

  • Artist participation fee: $20 (nonrefundable)

  • Artists will have the opportunity to display and sell their artwork during the Black Art Gala

  • Artists are responsible for bringing and displaying their work within their assigned space

  • Artists should be prepared to engage with attendees and represent their work throughout the event

  • Additional Artist Village setup and event details will be shared with selected artists closer to the event. However, art setup happens earlier in the day with the Black Art Gala starting in the evening.

Eligibility

  • Open to emerging and established Black artists

  • Open to visual art mediums, including painting, drawing, photography, fiber/textile, printmaking, collage, mixed media, digital art, craft, and traditional arts

  • Artists must have work available for display and/or sale at the Gala. We also recommend bringing prints as an alternative option for purchasing work.

  • Artists from Tampa Bay and beyond are welcome to apply

Please note that submitting an application does not guarantee participation in the Artist Village. Applications will be reviewed by Green Book of Tampa Bay, and selected artists will receive an email with confirmation and additional event details.
